18 September 2001 – Lima, a city of eight million people, is overcast and dreary, now in the winter, and locals tell me the sun rarely peaks through the haze from May through September. Even in the summer, they say, smog can bury the sunrays, but, unfortunately, not the intensive, constant humidity.
