13 March 1999 - Lunch at shashlik restaurants, where we ate from two vendors - one across the street had fish that Jim wanted. I found a vendor who had fresh looking lamb chops and the owner told me he had even fresher meat refrigerated inside. We also ate marinated onions, fresh soft bread and vegetables - cucumbers, tomatoes, mixed salads and marinated carrots. Jim and Sergei (translator) drank a little vodka while Dominic (videographer) and I quenched our thirst with beers.
